Clinical Services

The Clinical Service division is the mirror of RCC, like in any other modern hospitals, as it functions as the first point of contact between patients and the Centre. It reflects the quality, behaviour and nature of the hospital. The new case registration time is from 8 am -12 noon (Monday-Saturday). New cases are registered, after collecting socio-demographic data of patients by the Social Investigator. On an average, 53 new cases are being registered per day. The ‘front office’ provides guidance to new patients regarding hospital policies, consultation, investigations, certificates, financial support to poor patients and railway concession facilities to cancer patients

Medical Records

Medical Records Division is Located at Level - 5, Block E. Comprehensive case sheet system is being followed and every record is identified with a unique number and every case sheet is filed according to serial number. All active follow-up case sheets since 1982 are stored in MRD and inactive case sheets have been digitalized and separated from main Medical Records Division. Inactive case sheets retention period is fixed for five years. Most activities of the MRD are computerized. Coding and indexing are done according to ICD-10/ ICD- 0. The MRD is the source of case histories for the Hospital Cancer Registry in the Centre. Computerized medical records will be available for the purpose of follow-up at peripheral centres and telemedicine consultation centres. Total number of records (active case sheets strength) is 85,000. On an average 950 case sheets are issued for various purposes. Online death reporting in collaboration with City Corporation Office and Information Kerala Mission began in April 2006.

Clinical Services and Medical Records work in tandem and appointment system helps to reduce the waiting time of patients. Appointment system in peripheral centres also helps the patients in multiple ways.

RCC follows Multi-Disciplinary clinic system. The clinics are:
